Souderton Area High School Organizes Athletic Equipment with MobileTrak3® System

The Souderton Area High School’s Athletic Department decided that it needed a better way to store and organize their sports teams' uniforms and equipment in their newly constructed high school. Previously, these items were stored in opaque bins and cardboard boxes in several different rooms that were scattered throughout the school. To make uniform exchanges easier and increase the lifespan of their uniforms and equipment they turned to Datum for help.

Datum Solution

To give Souderton’s Athletic Department the most cost effective solution, Datum installed a MobileTrak3® System, equipped with 4Post™ Shelving. Since the MobileTrak3® is a low profile high density storage system, it allowed them to still have a space saving mobile solution despite height restrictions in the room. All of the carriages designed were 10 feet long and incorporated different types of 4Post™ shelves, dividers, and garment rods. By utilizing different sizes of shelving and carriages, custom sized storage compartments were created for each sport the school offered. Accommodating both equipment and uniforms in the same system improved accessibility and usability.

Result

Keeping the uniforms and equipment in closed bins or cardboard boxes meant they were susceptible to dampness, mold, and odors. The open shelving design of 4Post™ allows for optimal airflow, meaning uniforms and equipment remain dry. Hanging the uniforms also keeps screen printed logos and numbers from cracking and sticking together, resulting in an increased lifespan. Datum also matched the school's colors to promote team spirit. The extra room the MobileTrak3® created is now being used for issuing uniforms and as extra workspace for the coaches.
